About OWPP
The University of Oklahoma’s Office of Weather Programs and Projects (OWPP) was created in 2007 to establish an international applied meteorological project focus among the newly organized and growing central Oklahoma meteorological research and services collaboration known as the Weather Sphere.
OWPP specializes in comprehensive assessments of national hydro-meteorological services for countries across the world. Also known as Feasibility Studies, such projects provide national hydro-meteorological programs with expert assessment of current systems and services while also presenting extensive plans for future modernization.
Applied meteorological education and training programs are also a major focus of OWPP. With its close association to a wide variety of meteorological experts including university professors, research meteorologists, and private sector meteorologists, OWPP can provide specially tailored education programs for any customer.
The offices of OWPP are located in the National Weather Center building on the expanding University Research Campus at the University of Oklahoma. The close proximity of a large weather community numbering more than 500 meteorologists and students enables key connections for all of the projects OWPP undertakes.
